What Families Say About Working With Us
We don't ask clients to share more than they're comfortable with. What they do share reflects real situations — the uncertainty at the start, the clarity we worked toward, and what the experience felt like from their side.

Client Feedback
In Their Own Words
Siti Layla Hamzah
Petaling Jaya, Selangor
"I came in not knowing anything about the legal process, quite honestly just wanting someone to tell me it was going to be manageable. Roslan was calm, very clear, and didn't rush me. I left the first consultation knowing exactly what my options were. That was exactly what I needed."

"My divorce was not straightforward. There were disputes over how things would be divided and it took longer than either of us expected. But Budi Guaman kept me informed every step of the way — I never felt like I was being left in the dark. The final outcome was fair, and I could not have navigated it alone."

"The custody situation with my children was the part I was most worried about. Nurul at Budi Guaman focused entirely on what would work best for them rather than on winning points. We ended up with an arrangement both parents could accept, and it was done without a court hearing. I was genuinely surprised it could go that way."
Custody & Maintenance — June 2025
Kavitha Letchumanan
Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur
"What I appreciated most was that they told me exactly what the fee was before anything started, and the bill at the end matched what I was told. That level of transparency made a real difference. I'd already had a bad experience elsewhere, so this was a relief."

Fadzillah Abidin
Subang Jaya, Selangor
"I was worried about how formal and distant a law firm would feel, especially given what I was going through personally. It was not like that at all. The team was professional but also genuinely warm. I felt heard, not just processed. Would recommend without hesitation."

"Maintenance matters can drag on if not handled properly. Budi Guaman moved things forward steadily and kept me from making decisions I might have regretted in haste. The advice to consider mediation first turned out to be the right call — we sorted it without a full hearing, which saved us both time."

Case Summaries
How We've Helped Families Navigate Difficult Situations
These summaries describe real types of matters we handle. Details have been generalised to protect confidentiality.
The Situation
Uncontested Divorce with Shared Assets
A married couple in Kuala Lumpur had reached agreement in principle but were uncertain how to formalise it legally. Neither wanted a contested hearing. They had a jointly owned property and shared savings to account for.
Our Approach
We reviewed their agreements, explained the legal implications of each element, and prepared all documentation for an uncontested petition. We liaised with their respective representatives to finalise the asset division in a consent order, keeping the process collaborative throughout.
The Outcome
Decree absolute obtained within five months of instruction. Asset division formalised in a court-endorsed consent order. Both parties completed the process without attending a contested hearing.
"We just needed someone to put it all in order properly. That's exactly what they did."
The Situation
Custody Arrangements for Two Young Children
A mother was seeking sole custody of her two children aged five and eight following separation. The father was contesting the custody arrangement and both parents were communicating through solicitors.
Our Approach
We advised our client on how Malaysian courts assess custody in light of the children's ages and established routines. We proposed a mediated process — suggesting that both parents' primary interest was the children's stability rather than tactical victory. The other solicitor agreed.
The Outcome
A shared care arrangement was agreed through mediation, avoiding a court determination. Both children remained in their school and social environment. Maintenance quantum was settled in the same session. No court hearing required.
"The focus stayed on the children — not on us. That was the difference."
The Situation
Maintenance Application After Long Separation
A client had been informally separated for several years with no formal financial arrangements in place. She came to us wanting to formalise child maintenance and understand whether spousal maintenance was applicable in her case.
Our Approach
We assessed the basis for both claims under Malaysian law, explained the realistic prospects for each, and advised on the most appropriate route given the length of separation and absence of prior orders. We prepared the application and represented her at the maintenance hearing.
The Outcome
Child maintenance ordered at a level reflecting the father's means and the children's needs. Spousal maintenance was assessed as unlikely to succeed in the circumstances, and our client appreciated being told this clearly before committing to that additional application.
"I was told honestly what was and wasn't worth pursuing. That saved me time and money."
